The Easter bunny came a little early this year because Aaron, Ryan, and I will be out of town for Easter this coming weekend.
We leave on a plane Friday morning somewhere really exciting and we have Ryan in a major countdown mode over here!
( Mostly just excited to see my siblings - he has no idea where we are going! )

Our conversation this morning -
"plane today mamma??, oh wait, I remember - 3 more days! I silly mamma!"
He's gotten to be quite the talking machine.

Leave it to my darling mother-in-law to make sure we got our Easter fill of candy and goodies!
We showed up for Sunday dinner after church to her house and saw this ^^

A couple hot wheels, and new books for Ryan and he was one happy little camper.

She had also planned an Easter Egg hunt for Ry in their backyard.
Ryan was in heaven.
Of course, there was no one to steal any eggs from him so that made him happy HA perks of being an #onlygrandchild

"I see another one! I get it! I so excited mamma!"
( Best age ever. I love it so much (( Of course I say that about every stage but this one is awesome ))

He became quite the professional Easter Egg hunter this weekend.

He is one good "thank you" say-er and he gives the best kisses.

One of the biggest reasons we chose the house and area we did was because of the AMAZING community.
Such an awesome family community and we are loving meeting new people!
The community club house is within walking distance of our house.
( Pool, splash pad, park for the kids, etc. we love it so much! )
They had a full on Easter "party" there for the kids this weekend.

Petting zoo,
train rides,
bounce houses,
Easter egg hunts ( more like an "egg free for all" in the tennis courts - ha children getting trampled )
and of course, the [ slightly creepy looking ] Easter Bunny.

They also had some BBQ and Ryan had his first bag of Cheetos.
He was orange all over and happier than a french fry.
( HA deprived child who's mom has never fed him chips )

I know I look like I was having more fun than Ryan on the train but he was loving every minute.

Ryan and one of his best new buddies - Addi.
She is the older sister he doesn't have :)
They live really close to us and I love her sweet mommy and family so much!

Annndd for the classic bunny picture. I never liked him either buddy.
( Plus, I think this bunny is slightly creepy looking! HA )

I love this time of year.
Yes the starburst jelly bellies get me pretty excited but what makes my heart the most happy is reflecting on our sweet sweet Savior. He is the center of it all and the because of him I get to be with my family forever.

Have you seen this Easter clip ?? I love it so much. Brings tears to my eyes.

Happy Easter week!

( speaking of Easter goodies, this holiday is quickly becoming a favorite for Mr. Ryan HA we are  having to HIDE all candy these days. Last night we sat down for dinner and after Ryan eats about 1 bite of his food he says "mommy, I just have some candy now" - Nice try child. Since when did you become the boss! )
YOU GUYS!  I am over the moon excited for this review today + giveaway!
I have mentioned this before on my blog but I am a HUGE supporter on not damaging your hair by using the least amount of heat possible when it comes to styling your hair.

Being a mommy to an active toddler I don't always have the time to curl my hair nor do I have much desire to spend the time curling it :)

What if I told you there was a way to have beautiful perfect curls by using NO SINGLE AMOUNT OF HEAT!? Not to mention it's as simple as pie!?
I'm here to tell you -- it's real guys!

It's called Savvy Curls.

What are Savvy Curls??
"Savvy Curls are curling headbands that are made of thermal insulating & curl forming materials that work with your body heat to produce stunning lucious curls."

I received an email not too long ago from a consultant at Savvy Curls who explained how this no heat modern day genius way of curling your hair worked. I was a little hesitant at first, wondering how in the world some head band could curl my thick crazy hair with no heat involved! After watching a couple videos on "how to" use this headband on their website and seeing various testimonials I was hooked and I had to try it!

There are 2 different types of Savvy Curl headbands ( Not to mention TONS of cute patterns to choose from for both types! )
Depending on the thickness of your hair and how you want the tightness of your curl there are SINGLE Savvy Curl Headbands, and DOUBLE Savvy Curl headbands.
I was sent in the mail a "Double curl headband" because of my crazy thick hair.
However, the wonderful thing about the double headband is that the "double band" detaches to make a regular single curl headband. For even looser, bouncier, bigger curls, I detach the double band and just use the single band. Works wonderfully!

How it works:

BEFORE hair ^^
I simply showered and round brush blow-dryed it like I always do. ( no straightener )
My hair is naturally wavy ( not curly just awkward wavy ) and gets a little frizzy with humidity so I use my favorite Aveda products I talked about HERE. ( Not sponsored to say that, I just love my hair products! )

It was slightly damp in a few places and that's just how you want it!

For this particular time I was using the double band headband so I pulled the top half of my hair up in a bun until I was ready to wrap that top half.

I simply took each piece of hair and wrapped it around the band in a circular motion.

Once the bottom half was done it looked like this ^^
If you are using the double band, pop that top headband to the front of your bun and start to wrap the top half of your hair around that band.

( If I was using my single band, I would have ALL of my hair around this one band! ( SO. MUCH. HAIR. ) When I detach the double band this single band is full of a lot more hair but works just as well to give a looser curl :)

I took out my top bun and continued twisting and wrapping around the top band in a circular motion.
( just like I did on the lower half of my hair )

This particular time I left it in for about 2 and a half hours while I was doing laundry and cleaning the house. ( for a tighter curl - leave in for longer - I was going for the loose bouncy curls )

This is how it looks pulling it out of the band.

I fluffed it up a little and bam I was ready to leave the house.

Trust me when I say that You can hardly feel that you have a headband on!
It is the most comfortable thing I have ever put on my head ( in all sincerity )
I have slept in it at night and woke up to beautiful bouncy curls!
Sometimes I will put it in during Ryan's nap time and take a nap with it, wake up and WaaaLaaH! - Date night ready.

I may never use a curling iron again.

I am beyond thrilled to give one of you girls the chance to WIN a Single band headband ( $23.99 retail value ) !!
( husbands / significant others if you are reading, enter for your wife - she will love it! )
Please be honest with your entries and GOOD LUCK!
Giveaway will run until Thursday April 9th!

Thanks darlings! Happy Monday!! ( and happy curling - the healthy hair way! )

Today I want to share my very favorite incredibly EASY greek yogurt fruit dip!
Houston has been in the 80's the last few days and this dip is a MUST for the summer heat!
I crave summer looking at this dish!

It's a party pleaser if you are needing to take an appetizer and it's an at home favorite snack.
I LOVE having fresh cut up fruit in the fridge on handy so why not have some yogurt dip on handy when you want a snack mid-day!?

Most fruit dips call for cream cheese. Although their taste is top notch, the health factor is lacking!
Being the little health nut I am, I was so excited to find one I LOVE just as much as the fatty ones with 0 grams of fat and PROTEIN filled!

My child is also addicted. Clearly. ^^

Cinnamon Greek Yogurt Dip - recipe HERE

1 Cup Greek Yogurt  ( I used Strawberry flavored greek yogurt for this batch - hence the pinkish color tone! I think it works with any flavor! )

2 Tablespoons Honey

1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar

1 Tablespoon Cinnamon

Mix all 4 ingredients together in a bowl and refrigerate an hour before serving.

Wahhhllaaaa!

I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Happy Wednesday darlings!
XO

My little sis got accepted to BYU while I was visiting this past week!
Seeing as my family are die hard fans, and that is the only place she applied HA we are all pretty thrilled.
^^ Can't believe she's going to college this coming fall! WHAT!? ^^
So proud of her.

^^ Watched her flip a time or two ^^

Couldn't find Ryan one morning for breakfast - ^^ Found him ^^
Go figure.

^^ " I like this color mommy" - and no, unfortunately I didn't choose the forest green he chose for my nails. ^^
Clearly a boy choice HA.

^^ Books and pedicures. Win, win. ^^

^^ Buddies ^^ playing while his mom and I catch up on life :)

^^ OH HEYYY winter wonderland. ^^
You are so pretty.

My mom has made this since we were kids and it is one of my all time favorite night time snacks!

Put tortilla on cookie sheet.
LIGHTLY baste a tortilla with a tiny bit of melted butter.
Sprinkle Cinnamon sugar on tortilla.
Cut into strips with a pizza cutter.
Bake at 350 until crispy.
Top with fresh strawberries and drizzle with homemade hot fudge.

Perfection.

If only you could hear the little grunts my child was giving while copying every move my dad did.
Ryan did a full on workout with my dad. Abs, weights, and all.
Proud mom.
^^ Start em young ^^

This is what Costco trips look like with a big family.
THE BEST.
And yes, we go through about a gallon of milk a day. HA

^^ Morning sidekick ^^

^^ My little fishy ^^

His happy place. ^^
Within 2 inches of the animal crackers so conveniently placed at his height.

^^ Saw my littlest sister's dance competition ^^
He was so excited about it.

^^ His lunch spot ^^

Currently stuck inside book reading Dr. Seuss with Ry while hoping for sun on this rainy dreary day!
Rain rain go away!
Also, have you hear THIS mashup of this song!? It's on repeat. I love it so much.
Gosh I love weddings.
They make me so happy.
My cousin just got married this past Saturday and my mom and I threw her bridal shower.
( My aunts and grandma's pitched in and helped us cook all day )
I flew up to Utah with Ryan for a week and half and it was so much fun being with all my family and extended family
( there are a lot of us )

The Bridal Shower turned out stunning.
My mom is incredible when it comes to stuff like this so it was fun being her shadow through the whole process. Just trying to learn from her and her skills HA.
I LOVED the clean look of it all.
Each dessert / appetizer had a place. Whether it was a skewer or a shooter glass or a stick, it had a spot.

We made cake balls for the first time ever.
6 hours later we finished but goodness were they beautiful! ( and really yummy )
Nothing was catered. Just spend 2 full days in the kitchen and you can make anything happen HA.

We transformed my mom's dining room into food central.
The shower was from 7 PM to 9 PM so we had mainly desserts with a few appetizers.
( Appetizers included - Fruit, Veggies and dip, and Caprese skewers - MY FAV! )

I like to call it… "Pretty in Pink"
And I will just let the photos do the rest of the talking.

( ^^ Bar of soap party favor - "From Alyssa's Shower to Yours!" ^^ )

( Hi daddy! ^^ Taking the picture )

She decked out her kitchen in pictures of the bride and groom.
Beautiful.

After throwing this I got all into PARTY MODE.
I'm ready to Pinterest away and throw another one!
Considering I have about 70 cousins and 5 siblings still not married I think this is the first of many. :)
