If you are new to my blog, I gave a little backround on my parents pizza oven HERE  :)

My parents said "PIZZA NIGHT" and I about died!
Gosh, I dream about this homemade pizza!
And this Fresh Tomato pizza sauce... OH MY GOSH. I could eat it by the spoonful!!

So we have our normal margarita and BBQ chicken pizza that we do.
Which is incredible.
However this time we decided to add a bonus to the menu and do a few dessert pizzas along with it!

We made a "base" to go on each dessert pizza.
My dad mixed some cream cheese and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl.
No exact measurements just until it tasted mega good :)

After cooking the crusts ( with nothing on them ) for a few minutes in the pizza oven
we spread a light layer of that "base" cream cheese / powdered sugar mixture.

Then for the first dessert pizza we added some Reeses Peanut butter cup on top of the cream cheese mixture,
and then some graham cracker crumbs.

Followed by some marshmallows.

And drizzled some home-made hot fudge on top.
Um kill my taste buds NOW.

Stuck that bad boy in the oven for a couple more minutes...

And WAHHH LA!

I don't think I have ever tasted anything better.

With FRESH PEACH SEASON we made the second dessert pizza a simple peach heaven.

Again, cream cheese / powdered sugar mixture for the base, then fresh cut peaches,
and graham crackers to finish it off.

Cooked it for a few more minutes in the pizza oven and BAM.

Peach heaven.

Here's to dessert pizzas and the happiness they bring to my mouth!
I will be trying this in my oven ASAP!

I'm kind of obsessed with Ryan's NEW KICKS !
I think I get more excited about his new shoes than mine!

"Mrs. Powell, what color would you like the grout in your kitchen?"

Wait... What.
How many colors do you have?

"24."

HA.

A little bit of what went on this week.
Talk about the most stressful BEST thing ever.
I don't think I slept.

You don't usually hear from my husband,
but he graced us with his presence and on my instagram yesterday.
I didn't even know he knew how to instagram! HA

( a sneak peak at my bathroom ahhhh )

Tip #1: If you are building a home.
Go into the design center knowing what you want,
it will be SO overwhelming if you aren't sure.

I had a vision, a paint sample in my purse, and a few pictures on my phone.
I was prepared baby!
It totally helped them to direct us to the right color scheme and I could easily pick out what I wanted.

I was like a little kid at Disney.

TIP 2: As this is our first home and obviously not wanting to break the bank,
we wrote down priorities of what we wanted upgraded and what we could live with "standard." HA

ALMOST everything is an upgrade.
Be prepared to spend a little penny or 5.
Example : White cabinets? Upgrade Level D what the heck!?
Um. I want my whole main floor in white cabinets.

My sweet husband is such a trooper.
Good thing he loves me lots! HA

My big priorities were my kitchen, my flooring, and my master bathroom.

I could live with standard white doors, standard porch lights, standard garage door, ETC.

Just go into the whole thing knowing where you can cut back and where you want to splurge a little!

TIP 3: ENJOY IT!
It can be overwhelming and stressful or it can be totally exciting and hilarious.

My husband and I were in heaven.
( actually he said he was just in heaven watching me be in heaven haha I'm pretty sure it stressed him out )
This is seriously a dream come true for me!

After signing a million and one papers this morning.
BOOM we are ready to build.
I cannot wait to see it all come together.

I'm a first timer in this whole thing so I will definitely post about the process!

P.S. thanks for all the sweet comments and emails from my little blurb yesterday.
You guys are the sweetest. XO

Gosh today ( and every day ) I'm so grateful for my sweet baby.
He is my little sunshine.
And my sweet husband....He is incredible.
They mean everything to me.

I wanted to post a quick blurb today.
It's been on my mind a lot lately.

Life is funny.

It has a way of turning emotions upside down, inside out, and all of the above.

Sometimes life isn't perfect.
Who would we be if life WAS perfect?

Sometimes it's hard to understand why things happen the way they do.

Sometimes it's hard to see the bigger picture.

Sometimes you want something so badly and can't seem to reach it.

Sometimes life just hurts.

When I talk about more personal matters,
I have a hard time expressing what I want to say in the right words,
but I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes life just needs a little extra faith.

Don't let "life" get the best of you.
Be the best "YOU" you can be and everything else will somehow fall into place :)
I know it.
XO

Also quick reminder 14 more hours to enter The Anthropology $120 gift card!
Thanks everyone!

When it comes to traveling with a baby - the plane ride is the terrifying part.

Because my family lives a 3 hour plane ride away,
Ryan and I have been on our share of planes since he has been born!

With him turning 2 years old just recently and having to have his OWN seat
this trip to Utah last week,
It made me realize how traveling is a little different with a toddler than with an infant.

( QUICK SIDE NOTE: whoever made "2 years old" a requirement for their own 300 + something dollar ticket is just dumb! - he sat on my lap almost the whole time anyway! )

There are things that keep an infant occupied, and different things that keep a toddler occupied.

I wish I would have had tips to read before Ryan's first flight when he was 6 weeks old!
Because of my husband's schooling the last few years I traveled on my own often.

I used to be SO terrified to get on that plane with my baby -
and I quickly learned that it doesn't have to be terrifying!

So hopefully these tips will put your mind at ease for traveling with a baby!

Like I said, traveling with an infant and a toddler are totally different so look our for my
"traveling with a toddler post" to come soon!!!

#1. Be the first ones on the plane.

(First Flight - 6 weeks old)

With an infant there is so much going on (diaper bag, stroller drop off, car seat drop off etc.) a lot to get settled and it's so much easier being the first ones on the plane to get settled.

((  I laugh writing this because it's totally the opposite with a toddler - HA- more to come on that one later  ))

Take advantage when they say "families with small children board first" - that's YOU.

One time I was late getting on and so stressed about it, babe was screaming, it was NO FUN.

#2. Breast Feed or bottle feed taking off and landing.

A poor six week old baby can't tell you their ears hurt going up and down!

Even if Ryan was screaming like crazy in the airport, I would hold off nursing him until we took off.

The sucking motion will save their ears on the way up and the way down!
( plus it takes time off of you having to entertain them on the flight )

The SLC, Utah flight from Houston, TX is 3 hours which was perfect nursing wise,
he needed to eat by the time we were landing.
((  even if it hasn't been enough time in between feedings by the time that plane needs to land try and get them to nurse (or bottle feed) just a little bit any way  ))

I nursed Ryan until he was 14 months old and then took him sippy cups and had him drink something on the way up and down.

** HOWEVER if your baby is sleeping on the take off or landing I don't recommend waking them up! They should sleep through the altitude change!

#3. Your baby WILL most likely fuss on the plane - DON'T freak out.

Aaron and I learned the most valuable lesson when Ryan was little.
The MORE UP TIGHT YOU ARE THE MORE UP TIGHT YOUR BABY WILL BE.

When your child starts screaming in the middle of a flight.....
Ignore every evil glare,
don't look around ( it will make you feel terrible )
just FOCUS on your baby.

((  I remember wanting to scream at those mean glary people "HAVE YOU EVER HAD A CHILD!?"  ))

Take deep breaths. Don't stress.

To calm Ryan in a situation like this...
I would sing softly in his ear,
 rub his little back,
if your baby is hot take off his pants,
or maybe he was cold and I swaddled him.

Just pretend like you are the only ones in the room.
I know it's easier said then done but trust me I've been there.

The people around you will get over it sooner or later :)

#4. Download Fisher Price Baby APP on your phone or I PAD

This App saved our life.
Ryan was obsessed. Plus I'm convinced it's how he learned all animal sounds by 10 months old.

They are all free!
There is a letter learning app, animals, shapes, and it sings with all of them!

We tried to limit watching it at home so that when he did see it on the plane it was pretty cool.

#5. BRING AN EXTRA PAIR OF CLOTHES for the babe!

So picture this....

Ryan's first flight.
6 weeks old.
15 minutes into the flight - Blowout.
Up his back, EVERYWHERE.

Awesome.

No extra clothes.

Worst first time mom ever.

There I was trying to change a screaming uncomfortable child in the 10 square foot bathroom those planes have.

I basically had to get wipes and wipe him down clean.

He flew the rest of the plane no clothes on - just a diaper.

DON'T WORRY I luckily had a few blankets that I swaddled him with to keep him really warm but that plane ride may go down as the worst 3 hours of my life HA.

Moral of the story - EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED.

Bring another pair of clothes.
Another onesie.
PLENTY of diapers, wipes, desitin, etc.

#5. Activities for babies

Make each activity last AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.

Babies under 3 months toy suggestions:
Rattles, toys with lights, teethers, you know your child - bring their favorite toy.

For children older than 3 months -

I mentioned the Fisher Price Baby App
( no this is not sponsored, HA that app has just worked as a little lifesaver for us! )

If they offer drinks on the airline you are traveling - ask for 2 empty plastic cups.
You will be amazed at how long these cups will keep your baby entertained!
Stack the cups.
Put them on your head.
Have them put cherrios from one cup to another ( if they are a little older )

Books. Bring lots of books.
I always try and get a new little book for the plane so it's new to them and exciting.

#6. TRAVELING OVERSEAS with a Baby

Ask your airline for a BASSINET. ( in above picture - it's a life saver! )
Ryan was 9 months old when we took him to Europe.

Those 10 hours on the plane were a little rough HA I wrote some more tips in detail HERE if you are interested!

#7. Put your baby in comfy warm clothes

There has been one time in my plane riding past that we were HOT on the plane.

The air conditioning wasn't working.
That is SO RARE.
Usually it's really cold on the airplane.

SO despite the temperature outside, I always travel Ryan in sweats.
Something comfortable for him, and for me to change him if I needed to.

When he was little little he always wore a sleeper on the plane.
That way he could fall asleep if needed.

** Ryan has a blanket he has never been able to sleep without- if your child has an attachment- DON'T forget to bring it on the airplane!

SIDE NOTE : I know sometimes they are hard to come by and not available for certain airlines, but DIRECT flights are amazing.
Layovers are do-able but also a little more stressful and complicated.
If there is a direct flight in decent price range - book it!

I have to say that Ryan and I make a good team when it comes to the airport!

We have definitely learned from mistakes HA

Don't stress.
Don't watch the clock. ( that plane ride will go SO slow if you do )
You got this!

Happy Traveling!!
Look out for my "Traveling with a toddler" post to come soon!

( please email me with any further questions - I would love to help the best I can! XO )

With the first day of fall being TOMORROW,
I figured we all needed to make some Zucchini Bread and get in the spirit with a little fall decor inspiration.

This bread is one of my fam's favorite recipes!
It's almost TOO simple and takes about 10 minutes to throw together.

Step 1: Get your Zucchini.
The nicest neighbor of my parents brought over some from his garden... OH MY GOSH.
They were huge!

Step 2: Peel your zucchini

Step 3: Chop zucchini (you need 2 cups of grated zucchini)

Step 4: Get your ingredients. Follow the recipe.

2 Cups Sugar

1 Cup Oil (we did half applesauce, half oil just to be healthier HA)

3 Beaten Eggs (my family is likes to use egg beaters - again ha less fat)

2 Cups Grated Zucchini

3 Tablespoons Vanilla

 3 Cups Flour

1 Tablespoon Salt

1 Tablespoon Baking Soda

3 Tablespoons Cinnamon

1/4 Tablespoon Baking Powder

Chocolate Chips (optional- but SO GOOD)

Step 5: Combine ALL ingredients in mixer - doesn't matter the order just throw it all in.

Step 6: Makes two loaves.
Get your two pans - I would suggest to put parchement paper or pam and then some flour to keep it from sticking.

Step 7: Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes and WAHHHH LA!

So moist and so wonderful!

Happy Baking!
Goodness, I'm addicted to this stuff!

Fall decor found at Pottery Barn and Home Goods.
I LOVE the combo of silver and gold pumpkins with added orange pumpkins, candles, and some fall garlin.

**( FYI: My mom had already bought her silver pumpkins and mercury candle sticks at Pottery Barn last year and went to Home Goods this year to find the SAME exact silver pumpkins and candles as Pottery Barn more than half off the price - if you can catch the deal, Home Goods is AMAZING :)

P.S. Make sure to follow me on Instagram,
I have a pretty sweet giveaway starting tomorrow night to celebrate FALL that you will definitely want to enter!
6 prizes, 6 winners, with pretty darling shops!
Make sure to come check it out!!

XO

For our Anniversary trip, we got a "waterparks and more park hopper pass"

Meaning you could go to all 4 Disney Parks, plus waterparks, plus mini golf
( and a few other things were included with that, that we didn't have time to get to )

I would totally recommend it!

It was SO hot ( August and Florida is not the best combo HA :)
so we would run over to the waterpark during the day for a couple hours to cool down,
and head back to the Disney parks at night.

Disney World has two water parks.
Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.
We chose to go to Typhoon Lagoon because I had heard it had more tube slides!?
Well it definitely did - it had a ton and it was amazing!

It did have a few body slides...

Aaron LOVES these straight down body slides.
They scare me to death.
I can do any rollercoaster, but put me on this slide and I will freak out!

So I let him go,
and I snagged my camera for a couple pictures HA

I think I wore him out HA.

Thanks Typhoon Lagoon for being our "cool down"!!!
We LOVED YOU!

I had mentioned that Downtown Disney had a Ghirardelli.
Aaron and I took full advantage and went a couple nights!

Top that off with the most beautiful sunset and it made the night kind of a dream.

Goodness, I dream about you mr. sundae!
( You have to try this at least once in your lifetime! )
